Electrolux launches domestic appliances under its power brand, Kelvinator

The SEK 109 billion Swedish giant Electrolux is launching a slew of small domestic appliance products under its power brand, Kelvinator. This includes a marketing partnership with Mumbai headquartered Sundev Appliances Limited (SAL). SUNDEV is known for its Desire brand of appliances that it sells Pan-India through organised retailers such Spencer’s, Bharti, Walmart, Auchan, Metro cash & carry, Reliance Digital, Girias & traditional retail, according to a company statement.
Speaking about the agreement, Mark Ryan, Electrolux Global Licensing said: “Electrolux is a global leader in household appliances, selling more than 50 million units per year to customers in more than 150 countries under various brand names including Electrolux, Kelvinator, AEG, Eureka and Frigidaire”.

Standard Electricals enter into the premium fan segment in India, launches 12 new models in Tamil Nadu

Standard Electricals, a well-known brand of $ 1.3 billion Havells India Limited, yesterday announced its foray into domestic fans segment. The company launched 12 new models of premium range of fans including Ceiling, Pedestal, Table, wall & exhaust fans in Tamil Nadu market, according to a company statement. Each of these fans is attractively styled, designed to perfection and created for the premium segment and the range is priced between Rs 1650 to Rs 2500.

The new range of premium fans will be manufactured at the state-of-the-art plant located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Spread over and area of ten acres, this is the most modern and integrated fan plant in the country that is equipped with automated CNC machines for end covers, computerised conveyor assembly line and high-tech testing facility. Each fan is tested multiple times before shipping to the warehouse.
Along with fans, the company also introduced a new range of modular switches christened ‘Ivy’. The modern smart flat shape switches comes with better aesthetics and bigger ergonomically designed switch knob that enables soft-operation, low noise and ease of use. Each switch is made to perform over 100000 operations. The switches would be made in state of the art switchgear plant at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. Standard until now was manufacturing and selling domestic and industrial switchgear and domestic cables. The company will also enhance its distribution network for Standard products from 3500 outlets in Tamil Nadu to 5000 in next one year.

‘Tangled’, an awareness campaign and hair donation drive by The Rotaract Club of Women’s Christian College (RC-WCC) along with Green Trends unisex Hair and Style Salon, to make wigs for cancer patients, kicked off today at Women’s Christian College, Chennai on the account of World Cancer day, according to a statement issued by Trends in Vogue.

Side effects
Hair loss is one of the most difficult side effects of cancer treatments to deal with, as appearance is closely linked to one’s self esteem. More than the pain undergone, hair loss is the hardest part in having cancer treatment; this may even cause deep depression in some of the patients. The ten day hair donation drive is aimed at supporting cancer patients with customised wigs to hold up their self-esteem and to help them recover at a faster pace. The drive will be hosted at various points in the state including 15 colleges, 15 corporates and at all the branches of Green Trends unisex Hair and Style Salons.

LG India project a turnover of Rs 2,500 crore with 28% market share in AC segment in 2014

LG Electronics (LG India), leading consumer durable brand, yesteday launched its latest range of air conditionners, with a stylish design line and supreme package of air conditioning solution for 2014.

According to a company statement, the new range of ACs has been developed based on LG’s unique Indian Insights Programme, introducing first of its kind features including Himalaya Cooling, Monsoon Comfort and a technology that keeps mosquitos at bay. With its new technologies a five star rated air conditioner will have energy savings up to 53 percent, noted the statement.

While speaking at the launch, Saurabh Baisakhia, Business Head (Air Conditioners), LG India said: With this new and improved range, we are fulfilling our promise to bring forward our India Insight range for the upcoming summer season which will improve the functionality of the air conditioner around the year. The Rotaract Club of Women’s Christian College (RC-WCC), has initiated ‘Tangled’, an awareness campaign and hair donation drive to make wigs for cancer patients who lose hair due to chemotherapy. Green Trends unisex Hair & Style Salon has extended support to help in the collection of hair locks from donors, according to a statement issued by Green Trends.

A team of rotractors from RC-WCC have been specially trained by the Psycho oncologists of Adyar Cancer Institute to spread the awareness on the issue to various schools, colleges and rotaract clubs. The hair donation drive will be inaugurated on World Cancer Day, February 4 2014, at Women’s Christian College, Chennai, by Dr. Ridling Margaret Waller, Principal, Women’s Christian College, Chennai in the presence of the Business Head of Green Trends Salon, experts from Cancer Institute and philanthropists. The hair donation drive will span for ten days across all Green Trends salon, drawing to a close on February 14th.  During this period, willing donors can visit any Green Trends salon and donate hair. The collected hair locks across salons will be safely handed over to representatives of Rotaract Club of WCC, as per hygiene standards.
