Audi India inaugurates Technical Service Centre at Mumbai

The German luxury car maker Audi opened its Technical Service Centre in Mumbai. The company statement termed it as a pioneering step towards strengthening its after sales service in the Indian market. Ulli Seyfferth, Head of Technical Service, Entire Vehicle, Audi AG and Joe King, Head, Audi India jointly inaugurated the Centre.

While speaking on the occasion, Seyfferth said: The Audi Technical Service Centre in India will enable us to obtain deeper insight into usage patterns of our cars and other local peculiarities as well as customer preferences in India. These learnings are equally important for us to adapt our products to suit the market requirements. The Audi Technical Service Centre will support technicians and service advisers from across the dealerships in India, as well as continuously cultivate their competence level to execute quality jobs and delight our customers.”

Global standards

The Audi Technical Service Centre will operate in Mumbai with workshop and training facility in line with AUDI AG standards. With three climate control work bays, the Analysis Workshop is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for Diagnosis and in depth analysis of product concerns. The Centre will also house a training facility, which will conduct boot camps for the technical team as well as for the dealer network.

Audi, the Germany premium car maker has organised the Audi Women’s Power Drive in New Delhi and Bangalore to celebrate Women’s Day. This exclusive programme, according to the auto maker, is to give women auto enthusiasts a chance to experience the driving pleasure of the Audi range of cars.

Audi India opens showroom in Karnal, Haryana

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, opened its 28th world-class Audi showroom in India, driving into Karnal in the state of Haryana. According to a company statement, the entire Audi model range in India will be available at Audi Karnal – the largest luxury car showroom in Karnal. The showroom was inaugurated by Joe King, Head, Audi India and Mr. Pawan Gupta, Managing Director, Audi Karnal (Kanish Motors).

The brand with the four rings registered a sale of 7391 vehicles in January – September 2013 period, a growth of 15 percent (January – September 2012: 6417 cars). The company also clocked growth of 5 percent in third quarter (July – September 2013) with a total sale of 2545 vehicles (July – September 2012: 2417 cars).
“After consolidating our No. 1 position in the luxury car market, we now aim to be the first luxury car manufacturer to cross 10000 units in a calendar year in India. With improving infrastructure and increasing aspiration levels among our potential customer base, we believe that the demand for luxury cars will only grow exponentially in Haryana,” King added.
Network expansion
Audi India plans to expand its network to 34 dealerships by the end of 2013 from its existing 28 centers. The company opened new showrooms in Mumbai South, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and Delhi Central earlier this year. Last year also saw the opening of world-class Audi showrooms in Raipur, Kanpur, Goa, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi West, Nagpur and Bhopal. Further developments include Visakhapatnam, Noida and Vadodara among others.

Audi targets to be the first India luxury car maker to cross 10,000 units in a calendar year

Continuing with its expansion strategy on the product and network front, Audi introduced the Audi A4 with a powerful new 177 hp engine and Audi Drive Select, began production of the Audi Q3 in India last month and will close the year with 34 dealerships across India, according to a company statement.

Audi has started production of its compact-class SUV Audi Q3 at its Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra. After the Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, Audi Q3 is the fifth model to be produced in India by the Ingolstadt carmaker. The company also introduced the powerful new 177 hp Audi A4 with Audi Drive Select, exciting new Audi S6, Audi RS5 and Audi Q3 S Edition during the last quarter. The company clocked a quarterly growth of 5 percent with a total sale of 2545 units in the period July – September 2013, (July – September 2012: 2417 units), with 965 units sold in September 2013.

Audi Q3 production commences in India

Audi India has started production of the Q3 compact-class SUV at its Aurangabad plant, in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. After the Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7, the Audi Q3 is the fifth model to be produced in India by the Ingolstadt carmaker, a company statement said.

Dr Frank Dreves, Audi Board Member for Production, while speaking on the occasion, said: “Local production of the Audi Q3 is part of our long-term growth strategy in India, one of the most promising auto markets in the world. The infrastructure in the plant, efficient working processes, qualified workforce and a well-developed logistics environment, along with the growth potential of the Indian market, were the factors that motivated us to expand the product portfolio at the Aurangabad plant”.

The Audi Q3 will be produced in the newly constructed hall at the group plant, Škoda Auto India Private Limited (SAIPL) in Aurangabad, which covers a floor area of 20,000 square metres (215,278 square feet). The Audi Q7 is also produced in the same hall. Joe King, Head of Audi India, pointed out: “Local production of the Audi Q3 means that Audi India is now building all our Q range models locally. This will reduce waiting times for our customers and will enable us to offer a wider range of versions in the market. This move demonstrates our confidence in the success of our Q range, which has positioned itself as a leader not only in the product category, but has emerged as a lifestyle statement. We are confident that we will continue to retain our dominance in the luxury SUV segment in India”.

Increasing demand from Indian customers for the Audi Q3, Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 SUV models has had a major impact on the brand’s growth in India: Over the first eight months of this year, the Company increased its sales in the Indian market by 19 percent to 6426 vehicles (January – August 2012: 5406). Audi currently produces the Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi Q5 Audi Q7 and now the Audi Q3 at the group plant Škoda Auto India Private Limited (SAIPL) in Aurangabad in Maharashtra. The whole-year capacity at the plant for all Audi models is more than 13,000 units in a one-shift operation.

Audi India posts 21 percent sales growth in August 2013

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, continues on its growth curve in 2013 even as the market conditions are challenging. The brand with the four rings has registered a sale of 6426 vehicles in January – August 2013 period, a growth of 19 percent (January – August 2012: 5406 cars). The company has sold 875 cars during August 2013, recording a growth of 21 percent (August 2012: 726 cars), according to a company statement.

Joe King to replace Michael Perschke as head of Audi India

Joe King has been appointed as the Head of Audi India, effective September 1st, 2013. He takes over from Michael Perschke who will move as Head of Network Strategy and Business Management, international level, at AUDI AG according to a company statement.

Educated at the University of Melbourne, King brings more than 23 years of automotive experience to the role, having commenced his career with Toyota in 1990. He has extensive experience with both mass and premium market brands including Toyota, BMW and Audi in Australia and has experience in both retail and wholesale roles within the automotive industry. King moves to Audi India from Audi Australia, where he played an integral role in the Management team of Audi Australia Pty Ltd. As General Manager and Dealer Principal of Audi Australia’s wholly-owned retail subsidiary, Audi Centre Sydney, Joe King was responsible, over the last four years, for the management, development and direction of the dealership operations. From 1996 until 2009, Joe King held various roles with BMW Group Australia including Managing Director of BMW Sydney and General Manager of Sales. He also held the position of General Manager of Sales at BMW Melbourne, along with the role of Finance and Insurance Manager.
ImageMichael Perschke, who moved to Audi India in July 2010, played an instrumental role in the success of Audi in the Indian car market, taking the brand from 3003 cars in 2010 to 9003 cars in 2012. During his tenure, Audi India aggressively expanded its product portfolio and network and emerged as the Number 1 luxury car brand in India for the financial year 2012-2013. Audi India continues to lead the luxury car market in India, with a sale of 5551 cars during the period January – July 2013, a growth of 19 percent (January to July 2012: 4680 cars). The company recently opened a new dealership, Audi Delhi Central, its 3rd dealership in Delhi. Audi plans to expand its network to 34 dealerships by the end of 2013 from its existing 27 centers. Dealerships were also opened in Mumbai South, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar earlier this year. Further developments include Visakhapatnam, Noida and Vadodara among others.

Audi Q3 S Edition launched in Delhi for a price of 24,99,000

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, today unveiled the Audi Q3 S Edition-a sporty version of its SUV of the Year. Audi unveiled the SUV at  the opening of its third luxury car showroom, Audi Delhi Central in one of the most prominent locations in New Delhi.

Breaking ground in a new market segment, the Audi Q3 S Edition is priced at Rs 24,99,000 (Ex-Showroom, New Delhi) and will be available at all Audi dealerships across India from end of August. Audi, today also announced the launch of Audi Club India, a first of its kind initiative in the luxury car industry in India. An exclusive ‘Audi owners only’ community, Audi Club India is designed as a platform for Audi customers to come together, interact with like-minded individuals and enjoy a host of benefits.
Michael Perschke, Head of Audi India, inducted three honourary members into the Audi Club – India’s leading lady golfer, Sharmila Nicollet, former captain of the Indian football team, Baichung Bhutia and Audi India race talent, Aditya Patel.

According to a comany statement, the Audi Q3 S Edition features the 2.0 TDI four-cylinder engine that combines direct injection with turbocharging and offers the right balance between power and efficienccy, delivering fuel economy of 17.32 kmpl. Audi combines this engine with a front-wheel drive, which works with a hydraulic multi-plate clutch. The six-speed manual transmission in the Audi Q3 S Edition provides the driver full control of the vehicle dynamics, enabling him to enjoy a very engaging and exhilarating drive.
Adding yet another first to its list of sales and marketing innovations, Audi India launched the Audi Q3 S Edition online, with the launch of the Audi online booking engine, India’s first booking engine for a luxury car brand. As a special initiative Audi will offer the first ten online buyers a sporty off-road style package.
Perschke pointed out: “Audi Q3 market introduction in June last year featured several firstss. Rigid, yet safe
Audi Q3 S Edition weighs 1,520 kilograms. Its rigid, safe and quiet occupant cell integrates a number of ultra high strength steels. Both the engine hood and the tailgate are made of aluminium. As is typical of the Q models from Audi, the undivided tail lights are integrated into the tailgate, which wraps around the pillars. The wrap around, a large arc extending from one front door to the other, is a design feature borrowed from the large Audi models series. The compact SUV is 4.39 metres long, 1.83 metres wide and 1.60 metres high.
The Audi Q3 S Edition offers ample room for all five passengers and sets new standards for ergonomics and workmanship. The luggage compartment of the compact SUV has a capacity of 460 litres, which can be increased to 1,365 litres by folding down the split rear seat backs. A roof rail is standard, noted the report.
