Sonalika, one of the leading players in the tractor manufacturing in India has announced the appointment of the former President of Hyundai Motor India Limited, BVR Subbu as an Independent Director on its board, a company statement said.
Subbu, a seasoned veteran in the automobile industry brings in 30 odd years of experience with him. Joining the Tata Administrative Service back in 1977, Subbu held variety of line and staff responsibilites at Tata Motors.
Subbu is considered the brain behind the much acclaimed Tata 2213, the first mass market heavy commercial vehicle in the country. Subbu is credited with transforming Hyundai as the second largest car maker in the country.
Subbu holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University and Diploma in International Trade from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi. He has interests in strategic business consulting, automotive manufacturing (focused on high performance diesel engines and special purpose vehicles) and commercial vehicle distribution. He has served on the Boards of L&T (MIPD), Proton Holdings Berhad, Malaysia, and Lotus Cars Ltd, UK, He is a member of Governing Board of the Shriram Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi; Member of the Board of Directors of KPIT Technologies Ltd., Pune and Member, Asia Advisory Board, Pinnacle Engines Inc., USA.
