Mumbai Film and Comic Con India 2014 kicks-off at Bombay Exhibition Centre today

The three-day Mumbai Film and Comic Con 2014, organised by Comic Con India kick-started this morning at Bombay Exhibition Centre.

Spread across 50,000 Square feet area, CCI is hosting interactive and experiential 50 Hours of Programming through panel discussions, launches, gaming, video hangouts and more.

Some of the best International authors and artists are visiting this event. Nick Spencer, a New York Times-bestselling comics
writer, best known for his creator-owned hits Morning Glories, Bedlam and The Infinite Vacation, as well as his work at
Marvel and DC Comics on Superior Foes Of Spider-man, Avengers World, Secret Avengers, Cloak & Dagger, Thunder Agents and
Jimmy Olsen; Nicolas Wild, a wandering French writer and illustrator and the author of the critically acclaimed titles such as Kabul Disco, Kabul Disco: How I Wasn’t Kidnapped in Afghanistan, Kabul Disco: How I Did Not Become an Opium Addict in Afghanistan; Dan Goldman, a writer of graphic novels and video games, drawer of comics and editorial illustrations and crafts transmedia experiences for such companies as AMC Television, Wired, Random House, IDW Publishing, Time Magazine are taking part in the event and holding special sessions.

For the first time ever, Comic Con India has brought in an international actor as a special guest. Mark Gatiss, actor, co-
creator and executive producer, Sherlock (BBC) is attending Mumbai Film and Comic Con 2014.

Mark, besides attending the convention all three days, he will also sign autographs for his fans. Screening of Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special – An Adventure In Space and Time took place on the first day as a special treat for fans.

Fans, dressed like their favorite comics characters, stole the show. This year as always, COSPLAYERS will win tonnes of prizes under these 5 categories created to increase one’s chances of winning gifts. Each day, one winner will be chosen from each of five categories: Comic book/graphic novel, animated series/Movie 3, Manga/Anime 4, Sci-Fi/Fantasy 5 and Gaming.

Sherlock Fans

With just around a year left for Star Wars: Episode VII (Releasing in December 2015); One of the major highlight of the event
is Star Wars Experiential Zone. It is the one of its kind experience zone created to enthrall the fans. The Star Wars zone is
designed to resemble the bridge of a star destroyer with snazzy and futuristic display, equipped with Star Wars weapons,
character figurines and inspired art. Padawans can feel the Force with the iconic lightsabers and on first day of convention, fans seemed really happy and excited getting themselves clicked as the experience was like never before. At this stall, Marvel’s Super Heroes are also making appearances as The Hulk, Ironman, Thor and Captain America Figurines are placed at the venue for special photo-opps.

First day of Mumbai Film and Comic Con 2014 saw around three exclusive book launches. The most awaited Priya Shakti by Ram
Devineni got launched at the Convention. Also, Sab Ke Comics by Pepper Script & Rim-Jim by Peachtre were launched at the
event. Merchandise was a great hit too. Awesome Anime & Manga Merch from Japanese Merchandiser IINE Toys, along with the best and most exclusive International merchandise can be seen brought in from across the globe. Also, there are exclusive Indian  merchandisers including Wacom, Chimp, Item Number, Sony DADC, Graphic Curry, F-Gali, Planet Superheroes, Lazy Ninja, Fukwas, Urban Viking, Something Sketchy, Bewakoof.com and lots more. The first day of fest saw some interesting sessions and merchandise launches at the convention. Tinkle launched their Bobble Heads and Scholastic took a session with Illustrator Garima Gupta, where she discussed GOOD, BAD & GREY – How graphic novels opened their doors to narratives that weren’t telling Super Hero stories.

TVF was also present at MFCC to share their madness with the fans on day one. They took an interactive Session, in which they
revealed “Things you are not supposed to know”. For ACK fans, there was a special ACK quiz where fans won a lot goodies and
comics.
