Apollo Tyres has designated Martha Desmond as its Chief Human Resources Officer to be based at London.
She will take over the assignment from Tapan Mitra, who is retiring from service this month. Martha will be responsible for all aspects of HR in the organisation, in addition to being a member of the company’s Management Board.

Martha’s last assignment was with Genel Energy, where she worked as Human Resource Director based out of Turkey. Prior to that, she was associated with BG Group as Human Resource Director and later, in Mumbai, as Deputy Managing Director for the group’s Exploration and Production Division. She has also worked with RWE Thames Water, HFC Bank and Resourcing Solutions in various capacities based out of the UK, giving her professional expertise in all aspects of HR at senior levels, a company statement said.
Martha will be based out of the company’s office in London and will report to Neeraj Kanwar, Vice Chairman & MD. Speaking about her appointment, Martha Desmond, Chief Human Resources Officer, Apollo Tyres Ltd said, “Having witnessed the company’s impressive growth in the past few years, I look forward to driving continuous improvement and innovations in HR practices and processes in the organisation.”
