Volvo V40 Cross Country wins Technology of the Year from Car India Awards 2014

Volvo V40 Cross Country, the Swedish car company’s adventurous Cross Country has bagged the coveted ‘Technology of the Year’ award for City Safety feature at the Car India 2014 awards, according to a company statement. Apparently, this is the second recognition in a row for Volvo V40 Cross Country.
Speaking at the occasion Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said: “We are thrilled to bag the ‘Technology of the Year’ award by Car India. First the “Innovation in Safety and Protection” Award at Bloomberg TV – Autocar Awards 2014 and now this – aptly acknowledges our ongoing commitment and endeavour towards our ‘Mission 2020’ of no fatalities. The V40 Cross Country is an excellent example of how Volvo is taking Safety into the future. We believe that the most premium thing in life is life itself. It’s yet another recognition of our brand philosophy ‘Designed Around You’ where we continuously strive to redefine industry benchmarks for innovation, safety and overall driving experience for people driving in a Volvo”.
With Volvo V40 Cross Country, Volvo Cars took safety to a new height. The all-new V40 is the first Volvo Car that features an upgraded City Safety system. This system is now active at speeds up to 50 kmph (previously 30 kmph). City Safety keeps an eye on traffic in front with the help of a laser sensor that is integrated into the top of the windscreen at the height of the rear-view mirror. The car automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops – or if the car is approaching a stationary vehicle too fast.
Launched in the first quarter of 2013 in India, Volvo V40 Cross Country has been a great success world-over. Volvo V40 is also the recipient of top rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP collision test, the best ever result recorded by the institute.
Volvo V40 Cross Country is the only luxury hatchback in its category to offer innovative technology such as Park Assist Pilot (PAP), Laser Assisted Automatic Braking, Dynamic Stability andTraction Control (DSTC), Intelligent Driver Information System (IDIS), Turn-with Steering Lights (ABL), Side Impact Protection System, Whiplash Protection, Driver Knee Airbag.
