Great Lakes Institute of Management announces Dual Degree programme with IAE BORDEAUX

Great Lakes Institute of Management, announced an unique opportunity for Great Lakes students to earn an MBA from Bordeaux University in addition to the Programme Certificate/Diploma they receive from Great Lakes. On satisfactory completion of this program participants will receive an IAE University of Bordeaux School of Management MBA degree. The students enrolled in the course shall be registered with Bordeaux University and treated at par with students enrolled in the EU education system, according to a statement issued by Great Lakes Institute.

One of the salient aspects about the programmes is that the courses shall be conducted together with students from Northern Illinois University, Chicago. Therefore students from Great Lakes will have interaction, exposure and networking opportunity with students from both Bordeaux and NIU at the same time. The programme will have an intake of 15- 20 Great Lakes students. The 150 hours programs shall cover instructor led teaching, industry visits and extra-curricular activities. The courses shall be delivered in the area of Economics & European Business Environment,  Accounting and Finance and  Business Policy & Law. This programme aims to augment the learning of students by giving them an intercultural context that strengthens their European Economic Knowledge and International competencies in the business field.

The programme will be of six weeks duration, during May and June, every year, beginning 2014 and the students from Great Lakes who successfully complete the requirements will be awarded an IAE MBA degree (the new English-language M2 MBA). All the courses at IAE Bordeaux- University Montesquieu for the enrolled students will be taught in English.
This Programme was announced in Chennai on December 30, 2013 jointly by Prof. Bala V Balachandran, Founder and Dean , Great Lakes Institute of Management and Dr Serge Evraert , Dean IAE, Bordeaux, France in the presence of an August gathering of eminent Academicians, Industrialists & CEO’s.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof Bala said that this programme is an unique initiative in that the students will get an additional International Degree in a concentrated and compressed six week period which very few B Schools in India offer  and will put Great Lakes Institute of Management on the global B School map besides providing a International  exposure to its graduates that will be a significant value add and a differentiator. Partnering with a prestigious university like IAE Bordeaux is our another step to groom  business ready managers not only to the emerging economies but also the emerged economies. He also pointed out that this program will augment the learning experience of students by giving them an intercultural context that strengthens their European Economic Knowledge and International competencies in the business field. Prof. Bala added that this program reflects actualization of Great lakes philosophy of Global Mindset Indian Roots.
Dean Serge said that India is considered as one of the most happening global destinations and this initiative will  provide an opportunity to the faculty and staff at IAE to understand India better and over a period of time extend the activities  to other initiatives in executive education,  teaching and research. He thanked Indian counterparts for the warm welcome and hospitality extended.
