Yamaha Motor India logs 28 percent sales growth in November 2013

Continuing on its quest to witness high sales growth, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. has registered a growth of seven percent in domestic sales during November 2013 as compared to the corresponding period last year, according to a company statement.
Yamaha’s successful entry into the scooter segment with the launch of Ray and Ray Z has been instrumental in boosting its sales to an all new level. Yamaha’s initiatives like BRO’s Cricket League have also garnered newer levels of customer engagement.  The company has been able to achieve a 34 percent average growth rate in the past eleven months.
The company sold 39,777 units in November 2013 as against 37,344 units sold in November last year in the domestic market thereby registering a domestic sales growth of seven percent. In the Export markets the company sold 17,383 units in November 2013 as compared to 7,344 units sold in the same month last year achieving a growth of 137 percent. The overall sales stood at 57,160 units in November 2013 while 44,688 units were sold in November 2012, thereby registering a 28 percent overall growth.
Speaking on the results, Roy Kurian, Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd said:“We are very pleased with our consistent sales performance this year at a 34 percent average sales growth that can be attributed to our strong product portfolio, upbeat customer confidence and new launches in the scooter segment. We are extremely positive about our special edition FZ series motorcycle, new scooters Ray Precious Edition and Ray Z. The scooter segment has also caught on and is expected to be the growth driver for the two wheeler industry. All this makes us quite confident about continuing our growth story in the coming months as well”.
In April 2013, India Yamaha Motor established a separate sister concern namely Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. (YMIS) that will cater to the sales and marketing needs of the company and will function independently. Presently, its products in India are Fazer (153cc), FZ-S (153cc), FZ (153cc), SZ-X, SZ-R & SZ-RR (153cc), YZF-R15 Version 2.0 (150cc), SS125 (123cc), YBR 125 (123cc), YBR 110 (106cc), Crux (106cc) and Ray (113cc), Ray Z (113 cc) Scooters. Its import portfolio includes VMAX (1,679cc), YZF-R1 (998cc) and FZ1 (998cc).
